05/09/2023, By AllyIts been almost 2 weeks of trying to rehydrate and activate these grains. The packet said "up to seven days". Does not work.13/08/2021, By LizzieHave grains for =- 3 weeks now ,Milk started thickening on day4/5 .Started with 1 cup of pasteurised milk and built up to 4 cups now,and am slowly converting to raw cows milk as this is what we can get at the dairy in our small town and I pasteurise the milk myself. The grains are so small I cant see them when i strain ,so anything looking like a small sago ball + abit of coagulated milk goes into new milk, and goes onto heating pad as its cold here ,[15 -20 Deg on pad] and I get nice kefir in =- 24 hours ,I am new to kefir but my husband and I and the dogs love that tangy taste and the health benefits of it. such regular bowels ,WOW,I know I Ihave to be patient to see these tiny boogers grow into something that I can see, but there must be something there as its working wonderfullyso far25/05/2021, By DissatisfiedSo disappointed, the keffir grains were dead. They never grew. I followed instructions perfectly, and im not new to keffir grains. Its so expensive but they offer no replacement or refund when I called crafty cultures. They simply tried to tell me i did it wrong... I didnt, ive grown lots of keffir before. All you get in this packet is very fine DRY powder that never grows into actual grains and sour milk. They said you should find the grains in the sour milk and try to regrow LOL. Good luck finding that fine powder in spoiled milk (impossible). The milk was not supposed to spoil if the grains were alive. Dont waste your money on Crafty cultures try another place that is actually helpful when you call them. Or better yet find actual live grains locally (not dehydrated keffir)01/10/2020, By YolandeThe grains activated no problem and produced fantastic kefir. Happy customer.14/09/2020, By SharonExcellent easy to follow instructions. Really glad i embarked on this journey to have a healthy digestive system and life.04/05/2020, By TolaThe grains I received was smaller than I expected but exactly as pictured in the product description.
I get 250ml of milk kefir every day. It works very well for me, I have had these for three weeks. I hope they multiple soon for larger volume of kefir31/03/2020, By madeleineThis is a continuation of my review yesterday. I decided to try find a grain in the kefir....l found some tiny grains, they hadn't hydrated at all, even after changing the milk religiously every day for about 3 weeks. What a waste of milk, time and mony. Very annoyed and disappointed. Tipped the lot down the drain...30/03/2020, By MadeleineI bought this kefir starter about a month ago... I have been very diligent following all the instructions, and using a very fine plastic tea strainer, the milk is thickening but just tastes sour...I have used kefir before so I know how it tastes and how to cultivate it. What really disappointed me was the grains when they arrived were tiny, like grains of sand, making it even more difficult. So Disappointed but i will persevere.30/01/2020, By LilyThe culture rehydrated and started working within 24 hours. Since then it produces at least 500ml of kefir every 12 hours. this was double what I was expecting, as the instructions said that 500ml of kefir would culture approximately every 24 hours. I presume this is because of the warm weather during January, so be prepared to buy a lot of milk and drink a lot of kefir if you are culturing this during summer. The final product has a very pleasant tangy, yoghurt taste as long as it is not left to culture for too long.07/11/2019, By JennyEasily cultured, I could make a palatable kefir drink on the third day.15/08/2019, By LindaI followed all the instruction but it never grew
Very disappointed product and customer service30/03/2019, By JohanWe have ordered these twice but couldn't get them growing properly. We got some kefir from someone in town, and we've had success with that instead. (Third time lucky..?)30/08/2018, By ColleenHave heard so much about kefir and its health benefits. I have now made my own and can drink this healthy culture every day. Thank you for this awesome product.22/03/2018, By ShannonVery good product. Crafty Cultures grains are definitely worth the price. I have amazing milk kefir with such healthy grains that are just populating more and more! For my first culturing experience, I am very happy :)22/11/2017, By GuguSo easy to rehydrate and make perpetual bottles of kefir. Really good quality grains.13/11/2017, By TiffanyBought this a few weeks back , it was great ! , produced yummy kefir!31/10/2017, By JoyceI started with water kefir and it was weeks later before I started making milk kefir when I read so many people saying it was simple. It was indeed very easy and it turns out my baby loves the milk kefir waaaaaaay more than yogurt! After half a year, my toddler still smiles and asks for it everyday. I do think it has improved both our health since we started on kefir. He falls sick but recovers fast. By the way, a tiny bit of milk kefir grains can ferment a lot of milk!21/07/2017, By BryonyHi FTN - Despite following the instructions and doing online research, my milk kefir grains never ever 'hydrated', and after wasting a lot of difficult-to-find fresh, milk and religiously changing it out every 24 hours, they just never ever grew, hydrated or amounted to anything. I am fully aware that it's winter and after extensive research I have discovered that the cold does have an effect on the end result - but then that information should be included on the instructions. It's an expensive product, and I'm disappointed that after trying and trying for over two weeks, it has amounted to nothing. I think perhaps if people buy the grains during the cold winter months, there should be additional instructions. Just a thought.28/06/2017, By BronwenI wanted to give this a few weeks before I reviewed as I bought them end March and it is now end June. So it has been 3 months now of using this Kefir. I can say that I am a true fan. I love kefir and have seen the amazing benefits of having this probiotic in my diet daily.
it is easier to make. I use the woolies organic milk which is enough for 2 batches of kefir a week. Since I am the only one in my family who really eats it. (sometimes I make smoothies for the family with it).
I find it helps a lot with my energy levels, with keeping me regular and overall I have felt the difference since I started to consume this.
I only have 1/4-1/2 cup a day which is more than enough for the benefits.
At first if you are new to kefir, you might experience some abdominal discomfort but it soon dissipates.17/05/2017, By JoyceTook me a long time before I started with milk kefir. Started with water kefir to practice the hang of culturing stuff....which worked excellent. I used the whole bag to start my milk kefir, by the second round of hydrating the grains, they are already working! Looking forward to drinking/eating my milk kefir and making cheese out of it.02/01/2017, By ClintI highly recommend this site to anyone who is seeking excellent customer service, high quality products and superb product delivery.
I placed my order on a Tuesday, before 8am, and the delivery arrived the following day, at 10:30am. This company truly lives up to what they promise.
The Kombucha starter kit, water kefir grains and milk kefir grains have flourished, producing many litres of the probiotic drinks.
A very satisfied customer.
Thank you Faithful to Nature.20/09/2016, By Happy CustomerSince we were new to using Kefir we watched a few videos on YouTube on how to start and it did the trick. There is a process to it...
Love everything about this product and if you are doing it for the health benefits or cooking, this is the way to go.16/09/2016, By AmandaThank you for my Milk Kefir grains, I only have about 5 little grains those 5 little grains make between 300 to 500ml of milk kefir every 2 days. I use it for marinating chicken, in smoothies and bread/rusk recipes.
We also love our Water Kefir grains and my scoby I bought from you! Thank you for answering all my questions when I call.
Please let me know when you have Milk Kefir in stock, I need more.09/08/2016, By HughOnly noticed the negative reviews before I bought, so I wasn too hopeful when they arrived. Couldn have been more wrong, worked a charm! Turns milk into keffir within a few days on the kitchen counter - have only praise for the product.21/07/2016, By ZaheedaI bought 2 of these and they came back with different amounts in each, one was considerably less than the other and in general they were both a small quantity. For R175 they
e expensive!
I found other sites which give you more for your Rand. R70 per tablespoon! What a bargain compared to these ones from craftycultures.co.za
Got a refund thank goodness!
Faithful To Nature Feedback: Hi Zaheeda, Sorry to hear this and so glad this was sorted out for you but please note the product is dehydrated, so needs to be dehydrated before use, please read the instructions of how to hydrate this here: http://www.faithful-to-nature.co.za/Instructions-for-making-Milk-Kefir-from-dehydrated-kefir-Culture-sp-39.html Hope this helps for next time. Green Regards27/06/2016, By RosemaryI was disappointed with this product. The kefir grains are so small cannot find them even straining through very fine muslin. I have been able to make a few batches by taking a small amount of cultured kefir and adding to fresh milk. Almost like making yoghurt. Picture of grains is misleading.
