24 Jul Silan Roast Veggies
Silan is a traditional Middle Eastern date syrup, prepared by slowly cooking and filtering the dates to create a rich and delicious natural liquid sweetener. The honey-caramel taste of this exotic fruit not only adds flavour to this recipe but packs it full of natural goodness!
This recipe serves 4
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cauliflower, whole head
- 4 baby brinjals
- 4 tbsp silan
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- Salt
METHOD
- Heat oven to 180C.
- Slice cauliflower through the core. You want to get slices of cauliflower. Arrange on a baking sheet.
- Quarter the brinjal and arrange on the baking sheet.
- Mix the sesame oil and the Silan. Using a pastry brush, brush the vegetables with the micture. Sprinkle with salt. Allow to bake for ±20mins.
- This is served with sweet potato puree, pan fried hake, blanched green beans, hemp seed puree, a lemon cheek and crimson micro leaves.
