Alpine Manuka Oil does what exactly? It’s sweet sister, Manuka Honey is becoming quite the household name, renowned high and low for its fabulous healing effects. But, gaining in popularity, this dainty little oil, has equal measure to add value to the Manuka family with some astounding secrets of its own.
“East Cape Chemotype” Manuka oil is sourced from mature, wild growing Manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) from the rugged East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The oil is extracted on a large scale utilising the highest quality production protocols. This ensures our Manuka oil is blended to the highest quality with precision batch to batch consistency. Oil is extracted from the Manuka leaf where the leaf glands store the oil. Nelson Honey East Cape Manuka oil has low levels of Pinenes and Myrcene but high levels of Flavesone, Isoleptospermone and Leptospermone. This combination gives a superior level of antimicrobial activity, particularly against ‘gram positive’ bacteria such as staphylococcus and streptococcus. It also has a wide range of antifungal properties. The oil can be used to great effect on MRSA, athletes foot, cuts, infections, acne and other bacterial and fungal skin imbalances.
Unlike Manuka honey the oil is easily absorbed and non-sticky and it’s uses are endless:
